An ex-Chelsea forward has made a surprising revelation in a recent interview, admitting his early admiration for the Gunners. Arsenal boast a number of high-profile supporters and admirers in the football sphere, which is no surprise considering they are one of the biggest clubs in the world.
The latest figure to express admiration for the Gunners, however, will leave supporters in shock. Former Real Madrid forward Eden Hazard has revealed he used to “love” Arsenal and suggested legendary striker Thierry Henry was his favourite player growing up.
In an interview with French streamer and talk-show host Zack Nani, Hazard said, “I was a fan of Real Madrid and Thierry Henry, so I loved Arsenal at first. I grew up with the Gunners, but cut that out in the edit.”
Hazard’s Arsenal admission surprises supporters
This will certainly come as a huge surprise to Arsenal fans. The player has publicly mocked the Gunners in the past and the fact he has a strong record against Arsenal will only add to the surprise.
During his Chelsea career, the Belgian faced the Gunners on 19 occasions, avoiding defeat 14 times, scoring seven goals and providing two assists. Among his most memorable displays against Arsenal, his performance in the 2019 Europa League final is a standout – a display that still lives rent-free for many six years on.

Hazard’s career after Chelsea
Eden Hazard retired from professional football at the age of 32 in 2023. He retired soon after leaving Real Madrid following a disappointing stay in the Spanish capital. Injuries and other fitness issues were largely to blame for his underwhelming spell in Spain, but the Belgian is still widely considered a football icon due to his exploits with Chelsea.
Not much left to say on the Belgian, so over to you, Gooners. What are your thoughts on his comments?
