Arsenal have one European heavyweight on edge, fearing they are closing in on their top transfer target.
Having already secured Kepa Arrizabalaga, Martin Zubimendi, Cristian Nørgaard, Noni Madueke, Cristhian Mosquera and Viktor Gyökeres, Arsenal’s summer business looks formidable. Yet the belief remains they are not done.
Many watching Arsenal feel they lack a fearless, direct attacker, someone capable of slicing through even the most stubborn defences. While it is clear Eberechi Eze is the man they want to offer that, his arrival is far from guaranteed. Crystal Palace reportedly will not let their midfield maverick leave unless a premium offer lands. Arsenal believe they have identified a fair price and would be happy to pay it. Still, with the new season looming, there is a real chance the deal could collapse. That has sparked talk of Arsenal turning to alternatives if Eze proves unattainable.
Lookman The Eze Alternative Already On Arsenal’s Radar
One such option, as Just Arsenal previously reported, is Ademola Lookman. The wantaway Atalanta forward was tipped to join Inter Milan, but La Dea refuse to sell to the 2025 Champions League finalists. The ex-Everton man now finds himself in limbo, yet Arsenal may offer him a Bergamo escape route.
There is growing concern in Italy that the Gunners could swoop in for Lookman. According to Quotidiano Sportivo, via Tuttomercatoweb, Inter remain keen, but fear Arsenal could hijack the deal. Lookman’s record speaks volumes: 77 goals in 118 appearances for Atalanta, including a hat-trick in last season’s Europa League final. No wonder Arsenal are interested. Like Eze, he is a 1v1 specialist. His strength lies in creating chances, whether for himself or his teammates.

Eze A Left-Wing Option
Eze’s versatility should make him a wise buy, but at Arsenal, he may be best deployed on the left wing. On the left, he could mirror Bukayo Saka’s impact on the right, giving Arsenal the front-three balance they crave. Lookman, likely to cost less than Eze, could still be a shrewd signing. With Italian clubs growing anxious, perhaps Arsenal should feel quietly confident about landing him if the Eze deal fails to materialise.
Let us know what you think in the comments. Would Lookman be a good fit?
