Arsenal could be close to selling defender this summer

Jakub Kiwior may be closer to departing Arsenal than initially expected, as the club continues to strengthen its squad ahead of the new season. The Polish defender, who joined in 2023, has consistently produced solid performances when called upon.

Despite his reliability, Kiwior remains a backup option behind Gabriel and William Saliba, the established central defensive pairing at the Emirates. Over recent campaigns, Mikel Arteta’s side has maintained strong form, with Kiwior contributing effectively whenever required. In the absence of the first-choice defenders, he has stepped in to deliver assured displays, reinforcing his value to the team.

Limited Game Time Driving Transfer Talk

Although settled in London, Kiwior is understood to be seeking greater opportunities for regular football. According to Football Insider, the defender could leave within the coming weeks, with AC Milan emerging as a potential destination. The Italian club has recently sold Malick Thiaw to Newcastle United, a move that reportedly provides the financial resources to pursue Kiwior’s signature.

The report suggests Milan’s interest is genuine, and their ability to reinvest from the Thiaw transfer could accelerate negotiations. For Kiwior, a switch to Serie A would likely offer more consistent playing time, aligning with his career ambitions at this stage.

Protecting Arsenal’s Interests

While Kiwior’s departure would represent the loss of a dependable squad player, Arsenal must ensure any deal reflects his quality and potential. Accepting a fee that undervalues his abilities simply because he is not a regular starter would be a misstep. His performances when called upon have shown that he is more than capable of competing at the highest level, and any transfer should take that into account.

Should the move materialise, it would allow Arsenal to continue refining their squad while ensuring the player has the opportunity to secure the minutes he desires. For both club and player, an agreement that meets financial expectations and sporting needs could prove beneficial in the final weeks of the transfer window.
