Arsenal’s Swedish defender Amanda Ilestedt will leave the club this summer on the expiry of her contract. Ilestedt joined the club from Paris Saint Germain in the summer of 2023 following Leah Williamson’s ACL injury and she was seen as a strong, experienced option to step into then coach Jonas Eidevall’s system.
Ilestedt scored a WSL goal against Chelsea and a last minute winner away at Southampton in the Conti Cup during her first season, she did not play for the second half of her debut campaign and for the first half of this season after giving birth to a baby boy in August.
Ilestedt has barely featured since her return from maternity leave, though she has regularly been in the match day squad as Renee Slegers looks to the future of the Arsenal rearguard.
