Arsenal passed up the opportunity to sign Ligue 1 forward

Arsenal were offered the services of Randal Kolo Muani, but the Gunners refused the opportunity to sign the versatile French forward. This revelation comes as the Gunners edge closer to the signing of a number nine. After finally agreeing a deal with Sporting for the transfer of Viktor Gyökeres on a €73.5 million package, the Swede is expected to spearhead the club’s pursuit of silverware in the coming season.

Despite settling on the former Coventry man, the Gunners could have ended up with a different player, as illustrated by the heavy links to the likes of Benjamin Šeško and Hugo Ekitike earlier in the window. One name that occasionally surfaced was PSG’s Randal Kolo Muani and, according to recent reports, Arsenal passed up the opportunity to sign the versatile forward.

Gunners and Chelsea both declined Kolo Muani offer

This is according to ESPN, who revealed Arsenal, along with Chelsea, were offered the chance to sign the versatile forward. However, both clubs refused. Chelsea preferred Liam Delap and Joao Pedro, while the Gunners were not keen on the Frenchman at all, with the signing of Viktor Gyökeres also imminent.

The former Eintracht Frankfurt player is now a target of rivals Manchester United, and they will face strong competition from Newcastle after Alexander Isak communicated his desire to leave the club.

Juventus loan reignited form, but future remains uncertain

Randal Kolo Muani was signed by Paris Saint-Germain for £77 million two years ago, after impressing at Frankfurt. Despite initially showing promise with PSG, his performances plateaued and he has managed only 11 goals from 54 appearances for the Parisians so far.

He made a loan switch to Juventus in the second half of last season, and it proved effective as he scored 10 goals and provided 3 assists from just 22 appearances. The Italian giants would ideally be the perfect destination for the forward, but a deal is reportedly out of reach due to their finances.

Thoughts on the Gunners passing up the opportunity?
