Arsenal continue their pre-season campaign today with a second and final friendly in Singapore, facing Premier League rivals Newcastle United.
The Gunners opened their summer schedule with a 1-0 win over AC Milan at the National Stadium on Wednesday, 23rd July. Despite the narrow scoreline, valuable minutes were handed out across a youthful squad that included two 15-year-olds.
Newcastle arrive in Singapore following a disappointing 4-0 loss to Celtic in their own pre-season opener. This clash against Arsenal will be their first fixture of the Asia tour.

Arteta offers update on injured defensive duo
In his pre-match press conference, Mikel Arteta provided an injury update on Gabriel Magalhães and Jurrien Timber, who were both absent for the Milan match and missed Friday’s open training session.
“Gabi got a little niggle in training and we didn’t want to take any risk,” said Arteta. “Hopefully in the next week or so he’s going to be able to train and play again.
“And with Jurrien, he’s getting very close. He’s almost hit every point that we needed after the surgery and the period of rehab that he needed. And I think in the next few days he’s going to start doing it again.”

There is unlikely to be a place in the squad for Viktor Gyökeres, who was officially unveiled as a Gunner less than 24 hours ago. Noni Madueke is currently away on holiday, while Gabriel, Jurrien Timber, and Gabriel Jesus remain unavailable.
