Chloe Kelly grants Arsenal period of exclusivity in transfer negotiations

David Ornstein from The Athletic is reporting that Chloe Kelly has instructed her representatives to grant Arsenal a period of exclusivity (£) as she negotiates a move away from Manchester City when her contract ends there on June 30.

Kelly joined the Gunners on loan in January after being heavily linked with a move across the city to Manchester United, but City were reluctant to do business with their city rivals and she moved to Arsenal on deadline day on loan.

Kelly has made a big impact at Arsenal and has spoken many times about how she has found happiness in North London. However, she is 27 and hasn’t signed a club contract since February 2022 and this is likely to be the biggest contract of her career taking her into her prime years. In the spirit of negotiation, she has never quite gone as far as to say she will definitely stay at Arsenal as her representatives negotiate terms.

Ornstein reports that a three-year deal is being negotiated which fits the information we have. He also says there are other WSL clubs interested, as well as interest from the NWSL. However, with a deal yet to be struck and the player joining England camp this week ahead of the Euros, which start for England on July 5, Ornstein says the player has granted Arsenal a period of exclusivity to thrash out a deal and will explore alternatives only if an impasse is reached with Arsenal.

The England players are training this week and will be given a long weekend off this coming weekend as a final period of rest prior to the Euros. This could well be a key period as the player and England boss Sarina Wiegman are likely to want everything tied up by the time the Lionesses squad flies to Switzerland.
