Mariona and Alessia Russo nominated for Women’s PFA Player of the Year

Arsenal’s Mariona Caldentey and Alessia Russo have made the six player shortlist for the Women’s PFA Player of the Year award. Mariona, who won the Barclays WSL Player of the Season, as well as the Arsenal.com and Arsenal Women Supporters’ Club Player of the Season, scored 16 goals and made seven assists in the WSL and Champions League last season.

Alessia Russo, who shared the Golden Boot with Manchester City’s Bunny Shaw, scored 19 goals and created three assists across the WSL and UWCL campaigns. Mariona and Russo are joined on the shortlist by the following:

Yui Hasegawa (Manchester City)
Mary Fowler (Manchester City)
Erin Cuthbert (Chelsea)
Phallon Tullis-Joyce (Manchester United)

The winner will be revealed at the PFA Awards on 19 August at Manchester Opera House. Russo and Mariona complete the line-up of Arsenal nominations with Myles Lewis-Skelly, Ethan Nwaneri and Declan Rice.
