Arsenal’s second half performance against Olympiacos in the UEFA Youth League yesterday was of a high standard, especially when it is taken into consideration that the young Gunners were down to ten men following the early dismissal of Louie Copley.

Two players made their Youth League debuts in the second half, with defenders Samuel Onyekachukwu and Josh Ogunnaike featuring in this competition for the first time.

The two second year scholars certainly relished the opportunity. Onyekachukwu slotted in well at centre-back and was calm in possession, while he also helped to build the foundation for attacks.

Ogunnaike’s contribution was eye-catching as he demonstrated the damage he can cause in the final third.

The left-back scored with a neat finish, while he was also denied on another occasion.

Onyekachukwu and Ogunnaike will now both be pushing for starts in Arsenal’s next Youth League game against Atletico Madrid.

The pair, who are regular starters at U18 level, will hope that their contributions with the U19s will help to earn them a professional contract ahead of next season.
