Arseblog Exclusive! Laura Wienroither to join Manchester City on permanent deal

Arseblog News understands that Arsenal Women right-back Laura Wienroither is set to join Manchester City on a permanent deal this summer. The Austrian spent the second half of last season on loan at City and will make the move permanent, with an official announcement set to follow shortly.

Wienroither joined the club from Hoffenheim in January 2022 and competed for the right-back spot with Noelle Maritz under Jonas Eidevall. However, the player ruptured her ACL in the UWCL semi-final game against Wolfsburg in May 2023. By the time she returned, Emily Fox had been signed from North Carolina Courage, which limited her minutes. Wienroither then found herself out of favour under new coach Renee Slegers, who prefers full-backs who can invert into midfield when required.

She joined Manchester City on loan during the final hours of the January transfer window after falling beyond 18-year-old centre-back Katie Reid in the pecking order. Now she will join City on a permanent deal this summer. We are expecting Arsenal to receive a fee since the player is not out of contract.
