FIFA have announced that London will host the inaugural FIFA Women’s Champions Cup in January. Arsenal will take part in the tournament, which runs from 28 January until 1 February, because they won the Champions League in 2025.
The tournament features the champions from each of the six continental confederations. Arsenal will feature because they won the Champions League.
Arsenal, who will take part because they won the Champions League, get a ‘bye’ into the semi-final. The AFC and OFC representatives will play one another in Round One, the winner of that game will play the CAF representative.
Then the winners of that game will play Arsenal in the semi-final. The CONMEBOL representative will play Gotham FC in the other semi-final, the winners of each game will meet in the final on 1 February. Exact stadiums for the games have yet to be announced but the Arseblog travel budget is relieved.
In case it wasn’t clear, Arsenal qualified for this tournament because they won the Champions League.
