As the start of the season edges ever closer, the amount of academy players involved with the first-team squad tends to be reduced somewhat.
Over the next few days some difficult decisions will have to be made regarding which of the prospects who travelled with the first-team to Asia will remain with the squad for the upcoming games at Emirates Stadium.
It would be hugely surprising if Max Dowman didn’t stay with the senior squad given the significant impact the 15-year-old made during his three substitute appearances.
With several defensive injuries in the squad, the likes of Josh Nichols and Marli Salmon will hope that they will be able to remain with the group.
Midfielder Louie Copley and winger Ismeal Kabia didn’t get any playing time in Asia and it seems likely that they will now return to the U21 squad, with a loan move a potential option in Kabia’s case.
Forward Andre Harriman-Annous made his debut against Newcastle United and appears to be highly rated by the first-team coaching staff.
In addition, it seems likely that goalkeeper Alexei Rojas will continue to train with the squad.
Arsenal face Villarreal on Wednesday next week before taking on Athletic Bilbao three days later.
