Arsenal U21s goalkeeper Lucas Nygaard has outlined his desire to go out on loan for the first time next season.
Nygaard joined Arsenal last summer and endured injury setbacks in his first season at the club.
However, the 18-year-old still managed to feature nine times for the U21s in addition to making three appearances for the U19s. Nygaard also travelled with the first-team squad last summer for their pre-season tour of the United States.
Nygaard, who is currently with the Denmark squad ahead of the U19 Euros, told Tipsbladet: ‘We’ve been talking, me and Arsenal, for the past six months about me going out on loan. Both them and I feel that I’m ready to play some senior football and get the development that comes with it. I hope that will happen.
‘Now my focus is on the European Championship, and that might also provide some opportunities on the back of the European Championship.’
Nygaard admitted that he would be open to a temporary return to Denmark.
He said: ‘It could be anywhere, but I would also like to return to Denmark. Something in the first division would be really cool, so we’re looking at that too.
‘I feel ready to come back and play senior football. There are a lot of players on offer in England. In this window alone, 10 of my team are out of contract, so there are a lot of people looking for something new.’
Other potential candidates for loan spells this summer include Charles Sagoe Jr, Maldini Kacurri, Josh Nichols and Ismeal Kabia. Michal Rosiak could also potentially go on loan if he signs a new contract.
