Bowen Phillips aiming to make major impact for Arsenal U18s

There are a host of talented prospects amongst Arsenal’s latest intake of scholars and Bowen Phillips will be looking to demonstrate that he is one of the brightest prospects in the group.

Signed from West Ham’s academy as a schoolboy in 2023, Phillips didn’t feature for the U18s last season but he is now a full-time member of the squad and could have a significant part to play for Adam Birchall’s team.

Usually deployed as an attacking midfielder, Phillips is constantly on the lookout for a killer pass, while he is also capable of getting into dangerous positions to shoot himself.

It has been an encouraging pre-season so far for Phillips, who provided an assist for fellow first year Maalik Hashi just minutes after coming on for his U21s debut against Boreham Wood.

Phillips also featured for the U21s against St Albans and subsequently scored for the U18s during their trip to Germany.

A skilful player who is a neat passer, Phillips will be aware that there is much competition for places in the U18 squad this season.

The U18s get their season underway against Norwich City on August 16th and Phillips will hope that he will have done enough to have earned a place in the starting lineup for that fixture.

In any case he could well prove to be a useful player to have in the squad for the U18s this season.
