Mikel Arteta reveals one thing he has not done at Arsenal

Mikel Arteta has undoubtedly made a significant impact at Arsenal since his arrival at the end of 2019. Leaving his position as assistant coach under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, he took on the challenge of rebuilding a club that had been struggling for several seasons.

The former midfielder quickly recognised the need for a complete squad overhaul and committed himself fully to the task. Alongside reshaping the playing staff, Arteta also placed strong emphasis on changing the culture at the Emirates Stadium, working tirelessly to instil new standards and expectations during the opening months of his tenure.

Transforming Arsenal’s Identity

Since taking charge, Arteta has made several bold decisions, both in terms of player management and tactical approach. These choices have helped establish him as one of the most recognisable managers in world football. Under his guidance, Arsenal have become a more competitive and consistent side, capable of challenging at the top end of the Premier League table.

The Spaniard is now fully aware that the next step in the club’s progression must be to win silverware. With supporters eager to see tangible success, there is an expectation that this season will produce trophies. Arteta himself accepts that this is a crucial moment in his managerial career and in the development of the team he has built.

The Push for Major Honours

Speaking about his ambitions in a recent interview, Arteta said, as quoted by ESPN, “I give my passion, my energy, my knowledge and everything I have to give to this club. I believe we have transformed this club from where it was to where it is today.

“In terms of performance, when we look at the last three years of the Premier League, we are the team that has scored the most points. But we still need to win a major title. That is what we are missing, because the rest is done.”

The message from the manager is clear. While Arsenal have made enormous strides in recent seasons, the ultimate measure of their progress will be lifting a major trophy. With the squad strengthened and the manager’s vision firmly in place, this campaign represents an opportunity to turn potential into silverware.
