Michelle Agyemang is set for a second successive season-long loan at Brighton, with Arsenal eager for the 19-year-old striker to continue gaining regular minutes in the WSL.
Agyemang scored three goals in 17 WSL appearances for the Seagulls last season and is set to return to the South Coast on the back of a breakthrough summer on the international stage.
A surprise inclusion in Sarina Wiegman’s England squad for the European Championships, the teenager made a huge impact from the bench, netting key goals in the knockout stages against Sweden and Italy before playing her part in a penalty shootout victory over reigning world champions Spain in the final. She was later named Young Player of the Tournament.
Given her meteoric rise, there was speculation that new Arsenal head coach Renee Slegers might look to keep Agyemang in north London this season. However, with Alessia Russo, Champions League hero Stina Blackstenius, WSL Player of the Year Mariona Caldentey, and summer signing Olivia Smith all vying for attacking spots, the club are taking a long-term view on her development.
Agyemang previously enjoyed a temporary spell at Watford, where she even scored against Arsenal. While she won’t be allowed to repeat that trick this time, she’ll hope to make her mark against the rest of the league’s big hitters and strengthen her case for a first-team role at the Emirates in 2026/27. By then, Blackstenius, now 29, will be out of contract, and a spot could be up for grabs.
It’s understood that fellow Gunner Rosa Kafaji is also set to join Brighton on loan. The Seagulls, who finished fifth in the WSL last season, lost Nikita Parris to newly-promoted London City Lionesses earlier this summer.
