Former Rangers winger Archie Stevens was the trialist who featured for Arsenal U21s against Chelmsford yesterday, it has emerged.

The 19-year-old, who is currently a free agent, came on in the second half and gave a good account of himself as he looks to secure a move to the Gunners.

A former England U18 international, Stevens made one senior appearance for Rangers which came against Queen of the South in the Viaplay Cup in 2022.

Stevens featured prominently for Rangers at youth level and played in the UEFA Youth League, while he had a loan spell with Dunfermline in the Scottish Championship.

Mainly deployed on the right flank, Stevens is also capable of playing on the left or as an attacking midfielder.

The fact that Arsenal are targeting another winger suggests that Ismeal Kabia could be loaned out, while Seb Ferdinand may continue to be deployed at right-back.
