Albert Sambi Lokonga is finally closing in on a move away and could be headed to the Bundesliga ahead of transfer deadline day. The Belgian returned to the club this summer following successive loan spells. He spent the entirety of the previous campaign in Spain, making 23 appearances for Sevilla. Arsenal handed the player a one year contract extension upon his return from loan, protecting whatever little value he had left. His deal runs until the end of 2026, however, given he is not in Mikel Arteta’s plans, a move is expected even this late in the window.
Hamburg lead the race
The latest reports have cited interest from Bundesliga side Hamburg. As per Mirror, sources in Germany have revealed that HSV is close to agreeing a permanent deal for the midfielder. The report added a deal will be done for a modest fee given his contract expires next summer. Greek side PAOK also had their eyes on the Belgian, but Hamburg have seemingly won his signature.
If the Gunners offload Lokonga this summer, it will call time on a pretty underwhelming four year stay at the club. Arsenal signed him from Anderlecht in the summer of 2021, but after a promising debut season, the Belgian saw his minutes diminish considerably. Loans to Crystal Palace, Luton Town and Sevilla subsequently followed, but now he is set for a permanent departure.

More exits on the cards
Andrea Berta and the recruitment team will certainly have an eye on further departures before the transfer deadline. Jakub Kiwior is already closing in on a move away, while Fabio Vieira and Reiss Nelson have been heavily linked with respective moves. In addition, Oleksandr Zinchenko is another name that could leave before the window closes.
