Victoria Pelova reacts to Spurs friendly defeat

After Arsenal’s 4-3 defeat to Spurs at Meadow Park on Saturday, Victoria Pelova spoke to the written press. The first two questions are from Arseblog News.

How she feels in terms of her fitness and her return from an ACL injury…
Yeah, I feel good. I’m just happy and enjoying every moment just to be on the pitch. You learn a lot from last year. So now I feel good.

On playing as a 10 since her return and whether that is where Renee sees her…
I don’t think she sees me particularly that way, but she wants to try like it’s pre-season, we can try a little bit. So, yeah, I can play everywhere in the midfield.

On experimenting in pre-season…
I think we’re trying a bit new things. It’s the first time we have a long pre-season, mostly we have just one week because of the tournaments. So now we can try things a bit. Pre-season is just to get minutes and FOR everything to be good for the season. Losing to Tottenham’s never nice but we will look at what we need to work on coming out of this game. Obviously, some girls at the Euros are just coming back, so their goal is different than some girls who have been here longer. Their goal is just fitness, everyone is in a different place.

On Leah Williamson missing the start of the season…
I’m really sad for her and for the team, for us all of us that we’re going to miss her.

On her ambitions for the season…
I want to win everything.

On playing in front of the Arsenal fans again…
We were all really excited to play here again with the fans. The last time we saw them was in Portugal, so it was a few months ago. The fans are always great, we’re so excited to be here with them. And we cannot wait to be in Emirates with them again.

On her memories from Lisbon in May…
That atmosphere where we came from, it was a tough year for me personally with my injury. I was like, I want to go to the Champions League final and I made it through- that was my goal.
