U18 Premier League

Arsenal 2 (Hamill 7, Marciniak 11) Birmingham City 0

Captain Callan Hamill scored his first goal for Arsenal as the U18s continued their superb start to the season with a 2-0 win at home to Birmingham City.

The result means that Adam Birchall’s side have now won their first three league games of the season, while they also triumphed in their opening Premier League Cup fixture.

Arsenal were without Ceadach O’Neill following his U21s debut, while Samuel Onyekachukwu was also absent.

First year scholar Jack Talbot made his first appearance of the season at this level in goal, with Kyran Thompson starting up front.

Marley Frohock was given his first callup since signing scholarship terms.

Subs: Frohock (for Thompson, 36), Tahou (for Julienne, 61), Owusu-Gyasi (for King, 76). Not used: C. Phillips, B. Phillips.

Arsenal took the lead in the seventh minute with Hamill scoring with a header from a corner after latching onto a delivery from Marciniak.

Marciniak then found the net himself just four minutes later.

Frohock replaced Thompson in the 36th minute, with Josh Tahou and Abraham Owusu-Gyasi later coming on (the latter doing so after Josiah King suffered an injury).

It has been an excellent start to the season for the U18s, who will hope that the international break won’t disrupt their momentum.
