Arsenal man could soon lose his national team place due to performance

Leandro Trossard is reportedly facing the possibility of being dropped from the Belgian national team as he struggles to make a significant impact at both international and club level. At Arsenal, his opportunities may be limited this season, with the Gunners boasting considerable depth in his areas of speciality. It is suggested that he could be fortunate to feature in up to 30 competitive matches across all competitions.

During the last transfer window, Arsenal offered Trossard an improved contract, signalling their desire to retain him, yet they also strengthened the squad by bringing in Noni Madueke and Eberechi Eze, who can operate in similar positions. In addition, competition from Gabriel Martinelli, who remains at the Emirates, has pushed Trossard further down the pecking order, leaving him as the fourth choice in his role.

Challenges at club and international level

While Trossard has previously been a regular starter for the Belgian national team, often featuring ahead of some of the country’s finest wingers, his recent performances have been less convincing. Reports from Voetbal Primeur indicate that his time with the national side may be coming to an end. Younger players are emerging and competing for his place, challenging his status as a first-choice selection.

The likes of Jérémy Doku and Malick Fofana are cited as pressing to take over Trossard’s position, with suggestions that the team performs more effectively when they replace him or start ahead of him. This has led to growing speculation that the Belgian international may soon be overlooked for selection entirely.

Looking ahead for Trossard

Trossard’s age and the emergence of younger talent suggest that a transition in both club and international football is imminent. With limited opportunities at Arsenal and mounting competition in the national team, he faces a pivotal period in his career. The challenge will be to maintain form and impact when given the chance, while also adapting to the reality that his position in the Belgian squad may no longer be guaranteed.

Ultimately, Trossard must confront the possibility that his time as a regular for Belgium could be drawing to a close. The combination of competition at club level and the rise of new talents internationally means that he will need to demonstrate both resilience and adaptability if he wishes to prolong his involvement at the highest levels of the game.
