“He’s a monster!” Ben White discusses his new Arsenal teammate

Ben White and Viktor Gyokeres share a unique history, having been U21 teammates at Brighton before both leaving the club on loan to aid their development. They have now been reunited at Arsenal, offering a fresh chapter for both players in English football.

White has been with Arsenal since 2021, while Gyokeres joined the club some four years later. The Swedish striker has gone on to develop into one of the most promising forwards in the game and returned to England this summer. Arsenal invested a significant sum to bring him back to the Premier League, despite his first spell in the league being less successful.

The striker is acutely aware of the expectations placed upon him at the Emirates, and White has expressed confidence in Gyokeres’ ability to succeed. Having trained alongside him at both Brighton and Arsenal, White highlighted his teammate’s key attributes in an interview with Hayters.

White praises Gyokeres’ qualities

White described Gyokeres as “a monster” who lives for goals and is a constant threat on the pitch. He emphasised his teammate’s physical presence, noting that opposing players would struggle to deal with him. “He’s such a big presence and I think it will be a massive help that he’s already played in English football,” White said, highlighting Gyokeres’ experience at Coventry and Brighton.

He also praised Gyokeres’ professionalism, stating, “I can’t say a bad word about him to be honest. He’s one of the most professional trainers I’ve ever seen, he’s right up there with Martin Odegaard in that respect.” White’s assessment underlines the striker’s readiness for the demands of the Premier League and the potential impact he can have for Arsenal.

The challenge ahead

Despite White’s endorsement, Gyokeres must prove himself on the pitch. Expectations are high, and he will need to work diligently to meet them. His prior experience in English football provides a foundation, but translating his training performances into consistent match-day contributions will be essential.

For Arsenal, the reunion of White and Gyokeres offers both familiarity and promise. White’s confidence in his teammate suggests a strong professional relationship that could benefit the team, while Gyokeres’ return represents an opportunity to establish himself as a key figure in the squad. Ultimately, success will depend on his ability to deliver under pressure and make a tangible impact in the Premier League this season.
