Leah Williamson has undergone a minor clean up procedure on her knee and will be absent for a few weeks, missing the start of the WSL season.
The exact timeline is not yet known but the hope is that it will be a matter of weeks rather than months. Williamson sustained the injury in the Euros final against Spain.
Leah returned at the end of pre-season last week and the knee was still swollen so following a scan, the decision was taken to have clean up surgery which was successful and rehab is already underway. It is the same knee where Williamson ruptured her ACL in 2023 but is not believed to be directly linked to that injury.
Arsenal are well covered at centre-half in her absence with Lotte Wubben-Moy, Laia Codina, Katie Reid and Steph Catley. The Gunners kick off their WSL season at home to London City Lionesses on Saturday, 6 September at Emirates Stadium.
