Every year Arsenal face difficult decisions regarding the futures of youth players and by this time next summer a choice will have to be made regarding Alex Marciniak.
At this stage it is difficult to predict what will happen with the 17-year-old, who is certainly talented but hasn’t yet been afforded a consistent chance to prove himself at U18 level.
Last season as a first year scholar Marciniak started just two league matches for the U18s, although he made 17 appearances in total.
Despite his lack of starts, Marciniak still managed to contribute with four goals and two assists.
This season, with other players having stepped up to higher levels, Marciniak will hope to be given more prominent chances at U18 level.
Capable of playing as a winger or an attacking midfielder Marciniak is fast and skilful, while he is an excellent dribbler.
Marciniak has been capped by Wales at U17 level and certainly has a lot of quality but he will be aware that it will be important for him to hit the ground running this season.
