Arsenal keeps club waiting to sign player with private jet unused for two days

Jakub Kiwior has been close to completing a move from Arsenal to FC Porto in recent days, although the deal has still not been finalised. The defender is expected to depart in search of more regular playing time, and Arsenal already appear to have lined up a replacement should the transfer go through.

Arsenal preparing for defensive reshuffle

The Gunners have resisted selling Kiwior in the past despite external interest, but this summer the situation has changed. Having spent significantly on reinforcements during the current transfer window, the club may now look to balance their accounts by moving on players who are not central to its plans.

Kiwior’s departure would leave a gap in defensive depth, and Arsenal are believed to have identified Bayer Leverkusen’s Piero Hincapie as the strongest candidate to fill that role. Discussions are said to have already begun with the German side as Arsenal consider the possibility of bringing him in before the window closes.

While that search for a replacement continues, Porto are pressing for the move to be completed quickly. They view Kiwior as a key addition to their squad and are eager to finalise terms, with the player himself also keen on making the switch.

Transfer delay raises questions

Despite agreements appearing to be in place, the transfer has not yet reached completion. According to O’Jogo, Porto has even had a private jet prepared to bring Kiwior to Lisbon, with the aircraft reportedly waiting for two days. This delay has raised questions about whether complications have arisen at Arsenal’s end or if final details of the deal are still being worked out.

From Arsenal’s perspective, the move is expected to happen, but the timing remains uncertain. Given the investments made in other areas of the squad, allowing Kiwior to leave seems logical, provided that a suitable replacement can be secured swiftly.

For Porto, the wait has been frustrating, yet they remain hopeful that the deal will be concluded soon. For Kiwior, the opportunity to play more regularly appears to be the driving factor, and his eventual arrival in Portugal would mark an important step forward in his career.
