Arsenal U21s defender Maldini Kacurri has earned his first senior international call-up with Albania for September’s round of fixtures. The 19-year-old has been selected despite making only a single senior appearance for Arsenal so far. That came in the EFL Cup against Bolton Wanderers last year when he came on as a 70th minute substitute.
In the first half of last season, Kacurri mainly featured for the youth side in the Premier League 2 before joining Bromley for the second half of the campaign. Arsenal youth expert Jeorge Bird confirmed the defender’s inclusion in Albania’s squad, where he is eligible to play against Gibraltar in a friendly and Latvia in a World Cup qualifier.
Kacurri’s international pathway
Although born in England, Kacurri is of Albanian descent and has already represented the country at U17 and U19 levels. After joining League Two side Bromley in January, he made only three appearances before returning to Arsenal in May. This season, the youngster has already featured in three Premier League 2 games.

Future at Arsenal
Kacurri’s loan at Bromley may not have gone as planned, but with the transfer deadline now closed, he is set to remain with Arsenal until at least January. Having joined the Hale End academy from Fulham in 2022, he has worked his way through the ranks from the U18s towards first team involvement.
Arsenal fans will be watching closely to see whether his maiden senior international call-up becomes the springboard for more opportunities at club level.
