Max Dowman produced another superb cameo on his senior Emirates Stadium debut as Arsenal lost 3-2 to Villarreal in their penultimate pre-season friendly.
After coming on in the 62nd minute Dowman won a penalty for the second time in pre-season, with Martin Odegaard scoring from the spot.
Dowman, who again played on the right wing, caught the eye with his driving runs and also tracked back well on one occasion.
It will be intriguing to see how much game time he gets this season.
Former Arsenal player Nicolas Pepe has given Villarreal the lead before Etta Eyong made it 2-0. Christian Norgaard then reduced the deficit for Arsenal.
Arnaut Danjuma made it 3-1 to Villarreal prior to Odegaard’s penalty.
Arsenal were subsequently defeated in the penalty shootout.
Andre Harriman-Annous also received his first senior callup at Emirates and was an unused substitute.
