Arsenal is closing in on the signing of Piero Hincapie, a move that will pave the way for Jakub Kiwior to complete his transfer to FC Porto.
Kiwior is set to leave the Emirates, but his departure hinges on the arrival of Hincapie, who is viewed as his direct replacement in Mikel Arteta’s squad. The Gunners remain determined to maintain depth and balance across their defensive options, ensuring that no area is left exposed.
Arsenal Closing in on Hincapie
Bayer Leverkusen’s Hincapie has made clear his desire to join Arsenal and continue his career in the Premier League. Both clubs have been in talks over the last few days, and an agreement is now edging closer. According to Fabrizio Romano, a deal could be completed sooner than expected.
Hincapie has established himself as one of the most promising defenders in Europe in recent seasons. Arsenal believe his arrival will strengthen their already impressive squad and provide further competition at the back.

Competition for Places in Defence
While Kiwior has been a reliable backup option, Hincapie is expected to push harder for a starting role once he arrives. That said, breaking into the current defensive pairing will not be straightforward. William Saliba and Gabriel have formed a formidable partnership at the heart of Arsenal’s defence, and Arteta will be reluctant to disrupt that balance.
Nevertheless, Hincapie’s versatility and quality mean he is likely to feature regularly, either as cover or in rotation. His arrival should give Arsenal a stronger platform in their pursuit of silverware this season, while also allowing Kiwior to move on in search of more consistent playing time.
Arsenal continue to demonstrate its intent in the transfer market, and the addition of Hincapie would represent yet another statement of ambition from the Gunners.
