Arsenal’s reported “number one” summer winger target’s price tag means no club appears willing to entertain making an offer.
Rodrygo’s name began circulating in connection with the Gunners towards the end of last season, as Real Madrid started to phase him out of their starting XI. With Kylian Mbappé, Jude Bellingham and Vinícius Jr becoming the clear attacking trio of choice, Rodrygo’s place looked uncertain.
In one of his final press conferences of the 2024/25 season, Mikel Arteta was asked about the Brazilian winger. While he neither confirmed nor denied Arsenal’s interest, saying he wanted the best players in his team because he wanted his team to be the best.
Rodrygo’s uncertain role under Xabi Alonso
At first, Rodrygo was said to be unsure about leaving. Discussions with new coach Xabi Alonso were expected to clarify his role in the team. Reports suggested Alonso valued Rodrygo, but when Arda Güler was preferred during the Club World Cup where Rodrygo was snubbed, and with Franco Mastantuono soon arriving, the writing seemed to be on the wall.
Despite his diminished role, Rodrygo had the leverage to seek a move. However, Arsenal reportedly pulled back due to his high wage demands. Now, a second major obstacle has emerged.
According to Lucas Navarrete, editor of Managing Madrid:
“Everything quiet on the Rodrygo front, with some reports saying that he now wants to stay.
Don’t be fooled: it’s all due to the lack of offers he and Real Madrid have received. There’s no market for him at the price Real Madrid have established.”
Rodrygo is reportedly valued at €100 million, though it was recently rumoured that the price had reduced to €90 million – a figure no club seems willing to meet.

Could a loan be the solution?
It appears both Madrid and Rodrygo have misjudged the market. With a World Cup year approaching, his camp may need to consider a loan exit to ensure he remains in the spotlight.
And there’s already a logical destination.
Arsenal still need a left winger. Rodrygo prefers to play from the left. If he genuinely wants the move, and Madrid want to preserve his long-term value, a loan deal could work for all parties.
I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
